Backorder Status

95.00
Backorders in Magento are not fully implemented, during checkout the qty that is not available in stock is recorded, but after that its all up to you. With the 'Backorder Status' extension orders with any item marked as backorder gets a new status (Backorder Item). As soon as new stock is available all orders, with that product ordered, are checked and processed as long as there is enough stock available. When there are no backorders left, the order status is set back to processing.

Description

Details

Within Magento it is possible to use backorders to allow your customers to order products that you don't have on stock (yet), these ordered items will be marked as backordered in the order view. Because this is only shown in the list of ordered items this is very easy to be missed. The implementation also ends here within Magento, orders will not be processed and updated when new stock arrives. This extension implements the part that is missing in Magento.

Identify your backorders

Backorder StatusTo see which orders have items that are backordered it is important to have a clear identification of these orders. This is especially handy if you don't use an ERP or warehouse management system.  With this extension all this is handled by setting the order status to 'Backorder Item', this will allow you to search for all orders with a backordered item and process them quicker (as you don't need to check every order every-time).

Process new stock

Backorder Status ConfigurationWhen you receive new stock in your warehouse and update the product qty in the Magento backend all orders with that product marked as backorder will be checked. When there is enough stock available the amount of items that is in backorder will be decreased from the product stock and the ordered item will no longer be marked as backorder. When the order has no more items in backorder the status will be updated to 'Processing' (or de status you specify). The orders will be processed on date ordered, if the amount needed for an order is larger than the available amount the order is skipped and the next order is processed. This way you don't delay two backorder orders and you can ship an order placed on a later date.
